By Machines is an independent measurement lab that publishes how AI assistants name businesses when a buyer asks. It is run as a research project with an open method and open code; the first vertical is relocation to Europe.

What By Machines is

A lab, not an agency. The buyer is increasingly a machine: an assistant that finds, compares and sometimes chooses a business before a person sees a list. We measure that step with a frozen panel of questions, repeated runs and published intervals — and we publish the zeros, because a zero measured seven times is a fact and an absent row is not.

How it is run

The panel code is open source; every number on this site comes from it and can be reproduced from the configuration in the repository. Readings are written by a person on the lab’s data; drafts may start as machine text, the published text is edited by the author. There is no advertising, no sponsored table and no paid placement.
